MUSIC- GRADES 9-12

The music curriculum is based on a selection of songs, in English and in Hebrew, many of which parallel the psalms and prayers recited by the students on a regular basis. The program integrates subjects and issues that reflect and reinforce what is being taught in the Judaic Studies Department.

For example, prior to Jewish holidays, the students are introduced to a wide selection of music which pertain and correspond to the holiday.

The program includes compositions of various styles and time periods, some dating back to Biblical and Tanaitic times, Mishnaic times, and modern times. These compositions originate from a variety of sources and influences including Sephardic, Ashkenazi, Israeli, Chassidic, and American. The music infuses joy and spirit into the entire school. It often reflects what is happening within the American Jewish Community. The music serves as a source of inspiration to our students both while they are in high school and long after they have graduated.
