In order to qualify at Merkaz for a New York State Regents or Local Diploma a student must have successfully completed the following program:

4 years of English

4 years of Social Studies including:

2 years of Global Studies and Geography

1 semester of Economics

1 semester of Principles of American Democracy

1 year of American History

3 years of Science

3 years of Mathematics

2 years of Computer Studies including Keyboarding and Advanced Word Processing

Successful Completion of Minor Subjects including Art, Music, Physical Education. Additional electives include Speech, Spanish, Physics, Computer Applications and Computer Graphics.

Merkaz Bnos High School is registered by the New York Board of Regents. As such, the courses and requirements outlined in this guide conforms to the standards of the New York Board of Regents. Our students receive New York State Regents or Local Diplomas, based on their achievements on the Regents examinations Our grading system however, is based on the cumulative effort of every student. Attitude, class participation, homework completion, term papers and projects and examinations are all integral parts of every student’s grade.
