HEBREW LANGUAGE

Students in each Kevutza participate in the study of the Hebrew language. The primary goal of this course is to impart to each student an appreciation of this language’s timeless values and inherent richness. Additional goals include training the students to master conversational Hebrew and to become skilled at reading Modern Hebrew. The instructor places special emphasis on the study of classical Hebrew literature as to ensure that students will be able to enjoy the riches of Jewish culture and lore. Stories, poetry and articles are always chosen to reflect our students’ skill level as well as to inculcate them with a love of Eretz Israel and Am Israel. As a result of completing this course, all of our school’s students are fully prepared to take the New York State Hebrew Regents Exam in grade 11. Teachers are given tremendous flexibility in choosing what and how to teach the material in order to maximize the students’ differing learning styles.
